Meet Flyhomie Abhas!

What do you do at Flyhomes? I’m a senior engineer, engaged in building internal tools for Flyhomes. I ensure the frontend never loses touch with the backend. Although my work might not find accreditation in the minds of the homebuyers, it has been giving me immense pleasure in making their digital experience seamless for the last 3 years.

What did you do before joining Flyhomes? I worked with an Indian startup, Strawberry POS, for 2 years. The company focused on Point of Sale software for restaurants and being a part of a 3 member tech team, I played a crucial role in implementing a table reservation system, online ordering and online payment platform.

What’s something unexpected that you’ve learned on the job?Flyhomes, being my first opportunity to interact and learn from colleagues across the globe, has helped me to learn about different cultures and working styles. Not only I developed my soft skills, but also I could polish my professional skills under the able mentorship of [Flyhomes Co-Founder] Steve amongst others.

What’s your #1 tip for homebuyers? It is not that hard if you have the right people beside you. Just keep calm and let Flyhomes do the research, put their money in (with cash offers) and let you win your dream home.

How do you like to spend time when you’re not working? Whilst I’m not building castles with Javascript, I love watching FC Barcelona (ain’t they the best!). I’m a state-level swimmer and love to play the guitar. I also love travelling, I recently visited Ladakh (in India) and fell in love with its beautiful terrain.

What’s something about you that surprises people? I love eating spicy food (you know how it is in India). I once got into a hot sauce challenge and surprisingly won as well. Ironically, since then I haven’t been able to eat anything spicy at all.

Pets, plants, or both? What makes you happy at home? Growing up, we had a huge garden in the front yard of our home. I use to love gardening as a child. While I haven’t owned a pet yet, I see myself owning a Beagle someday.

What neighbourhood do you live in? Where else have you lived? I live in Noida, Delhi NCR (the National Capital Region) in India. I have spent my days in Dewas (growing up), Roorkee (undergraduate), Hyderabad and Gurgaon.

What’s your favourite place in Delhi NCR? Spill a best-kept neighbourhood secret spot (where do the locals go?)
a) Mera Pyar – My Bar (translates to My Love – My Bar)
b) Gedi route around India gate in Central Delhi

What do you love most about your home? A front yard garden which would serve as a cosy meeting spot for my friends to gather and make plans for the evening.
