What do you do at Flyhomes? I am a Manager on the Client Success team. I connect with clients who’ve recently closed with us to hear about their experience and I use this information to initiate new projects and implement new processes to help provide an improved experience for future clients. I also help build processes and systems to intake new homebuyers.
What did you do before joining Flyhomes? I worked in the film industry in Los Angeles as a Production Manager/Production Coordinator. You can look me up on IMDb!
What’s something unexpected that you’ve learned on the job? I was originally hired to be a tour specialist but was immediately thrown into operations since there was an immediate need in that area – and I never left. So you could say that everything I’ve learned since has been unexpected. My favorite thing I’ve learned has been how to use a web application integration platform called Zapier, which I’ve used to help automate tasks of all sorts across the operational side of the company. In learning how this software works, and in challenging myself to really utilize it’s functionality, I’ve opened my mind a lot more to the concepts of how computers work, how information flows, and how to build efficient and effective tools and processes.
What’s your #1 tip for homebuyers? Homeownership is a journey, and your first, second, or third home isn’t necessarily going to be your last – just make sure the steps you are taking are leading you in the right direction. Determine what you are looking for and establish your deal breakers, but also try to challenge them. You might find that imperfect home is actually the perfect home for you, or it might be an amazing stepping stone on the path to your dream home.
How do you like to spend time when you’re not working? I love spending time with my family. I’ve got a 4 year old son and another one on the way! We really enjoy exploring Washington by finding new parks, playgrounds, hiking trails, and walkable areas to visit on the weekends. I also enjoy reading, watching movies, hiking, and working on our house.
What’s something about you that surprises people? I don’t know if it surprises my co-workers anymore, but I am big-time into Star Wars. I love the movies and TV shows (live action and animated), but I also read the novels and comics, I’m collecting all versions of the original trilogy released on VHS (I’ve got 3 or 4 so far), and I even have Star Wars tattoos! I’ve got my son hooked on Star Wars too and we love watching the Mandalorian together. I’ve even convinced my wife to come to the light [side of the force].
Pets, plants, or both? What makes you happy at home? Pets! We have a small poodle/pug/pekingese mutt and he’s the strangest, sweetest dog around (yes, we did a DNA test).
What neighborhood do you live in? Where else have you lived? I recently moved to Fife, WA, which is a smaller city adjacent to Tacoma. I’ve lived in all the major time zones in the US – I was born in Louisiana, grew up in Colorado, went to college in Florida, then moved out to the
west best coast.
What’s your favorite place in Fife? Spill a best-kept neighborhood secret spot (where do the locals go?) My favorite spot is actually just outside of Fife on the east side of Commencement Bay in Tacoma. It’s called the Dick Gilmur Memorial Shoreline and it’s a small rocky beach area with an incredible view where you can watch ships pulling into the bay and hear sea lions barking in the distance. We like to take our son here to throw rocks in the water and look for little crabs. There are rarely any other people around when we go, so it’s an excellent place to relax in solitude.
