What do you do at Flyhomes? I am the financial controller. I work with the finance team to manage the finances of the company, prepare reports for external shareholders, and ensure compliance with state and federal agencies.
What did you do before joining Flyhomes? I worked at BDO, a large global public accounting firm. I was an audit senior manager. I started my career in the Chicago office, did a 3-year rotation in the London office, and ended up in Seattle in July 2017.
What’s something unexpected that you’ve learned on the job? Flyhomes wants to do everything they can in order to make the client happy and do the right thing.
What’s your #1 tip for homebuyers? Besides the obvious tip of using Flyhomes to facilitate the purchase of your home? My advise would be to not settle. It’s important to understand what is and what isn’t important on your bucket list. However, just because a house isn’t available today which meets all of your needs, doesn’t mean that it won’t come on the market tomorrow. With Flyhomes’ products, you can move quickly on a property when the perfect house comes on the market.
How do you like to spend time when you’re not working? I am a woodworker and spend my time making anything from a desk, to a cutting board, to a kitchen cabinet. My next significant project will be making a kitchen table out of a massive live edge slab of curly maple.
What’s something about you that surprises people? I’ve been to over 30 countries in Europe, Africa, and North America.
Pets, plants, or both? What makes you happy at home? Plants. Pre-covid, I significantly lacked a green thumb. I started a garden during covid and have really enjoyed keeping some house plants alive in the kitchen during the rainy winter months in Seattle.
What neighborhood do you live in? Where else have you lived? I live in Edmonds, WA. I started out in the suburbs of Chicago where I grew up and went to college. I then lived in a town in the UK called Reading and split my time between Reading and London.
What’s your favorite place in Edmonds? Spill a best-kept neighborhood secret spot (where do the locals go?)I love taking my kids to the Marina Beach Park in Edmonds. The best secret spot is there is a house in Woodway, WA that has roughly 8 goats. You’re allowed to go feed the goat certain foods (like carrots). Ask me for the address and I’d love to give you the information.
What do you love most about your home? The location. I’m close enough to Seattle to make it downtown in 20 minutes if necessary, far enough from the city to have land and trees, and about 10 minutes from the waterfront.
